Spring is here and we're still going at it in the studio, but things are coming together nicely! We're taking a couple of breaks from recording to play some shows. We covered "Do You Realize" by the Flaming Lips at the 500 Songs for Kids benefit, and we're VERY excited to be playing a couple full-on rock shows next week. First we'll be playing along with Morning State (it's their CD release) for a BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE FIVE show at the STAR BAR in Atlanta on May 15. Next up will be a hometown show at the GEORGIA THEATER on May 17. We've got lots more in the works, and are chomping at the bit to get back out on the road, so we hope to see you soon!

It was snowing over all the spring flowers here in Athens this morning, but that's not stopping us from recording!! The lovely Bill Doss is in the studio (as I type) helping out and it's all coming along nicely.
We've just put the Casper & the Cookies/Marbles 7" split up in our shop. We only have a handfull left, buy it's only $5.00 and you can get it here!

Love, love, love to you all! Casper & the Cookies are celebrating this Valentine's Day in the afterglow of our Japan tour with Elekibass. It was such an amazing time...Nihon ichiban!!! Here's a clip from our last show in Tokyo with Elekibass and Totos!!

Happy New Year! 2008 is going to be another busy year for the Cookies. We plan to spend the first part of the year in the studio, recording our next full-length album. We have scheduled a Japan tour in February, and will be on the road again seriously in the fall. We will keep you updated!! Our first show of the year will be a great one, with our buddies Poison Control Center from Iowa!

Home for the holidays! We've just finished up a pretty intense five week tour of the east, midwest, and a little Canada. It was great getting to see our friends and tour with amazing bands like Poison Control Center and the Icicles, but it sure is sweet to be back in Athens! The fact that it's sunny and 68 degrees doesn't hurt. AAAnd, I've updated our photos page with a bunch of fun pictures from the tour!! While we were on the road, we got to record a Daytrotter session! It was really great. We recorded a few new songs, including the specal dirty version of our new Christmas song! You can hear the clean(er) version on our Myspace page, but we'll have to wait for Daytrotter to post the rare, filthy version.
Now that we're home, we're going to kick it up on recording the new album. We've got a really good start and are excited about the new songs! Check back for updates!!

Early one Sunday morning, Keith John Adams and Casper and the Cookies recorded a couple songs in Mike Dixon (People in a Position to Know Records) home studio in Olympia in exchange for a place to sleep and some veggie pasta. One mic, in the middle of the room, no retakes/no overdubs. This 8" is PIAPTK's most labor intensive to date. These one-sided 8"s were silkscreened on the flipside and Kay Stanton from CATC HAND KNIT all of the bags! As KJA says "They also make very fetching hats." We made 50, but between silkscreening screwups and a rat chewing up a cord in the New Zealand pressing plant, there were only 40 that were usuable. It's been a whirlwind of a month for the Cookies! First off, we played our fourth Athens Popfest in a row and had a great time! In addition to our own set, we got the honor of backing up the legendary Daniel Johnston, which was pretty much indescribable. You can hear the entire show HERE! Thanks to everyone who supported us and HHBTM for Popfest. What a blast!!
Immediately following Popfest, we jumped in the van with three members of Elekibass for a quick tour. It was great getting to see these guys rock it out every night and of course, we Cookies are sluts for the road, NO MATTER HOW HOT!! Thanks for your ears and your floors. We will be heading out on the road again in October to head up for our CMJ showcase. We'll be hitting the east coast and the midwest. West coasters--we're currently seeing what we can do to get out that way on our way to Japan (that's right, my friends!! JAPAN!!!) in the early spring. We'll keep ya updated.

It's the Cookies' SURPRISE TOUR of the southeast! I know, I know, we're supposed to be working on the album (and we are!!), but our friends, elekibass (amazing pop from Japan) very suddenly needed a band to tour with during their stint in the states, and who can say no to elekibass? Not us! We're hitting a dozen or so sites in the southeast and will be testing some new material on you. We're heading out on August 13th, right after Popfest.

The recording process for the next album has begun! We're very happy that Mr. Bill Doss (Apples in Stereo, Sunshine Fix, Olivia Tremor Control) will be helping us out! There's also some rumor of filming the making of the record. Hmmm.
In yesterday's news, USA Today's Whitney Matheson mentioned us in her POP CANDY column. So thanks to Whitney and Andy (whoever you are...) for getting the word out.
We have also started booking more tours for the fall! Look out for the Cookies on the East Coast, in the Mid West and also in Florida. And of course the Athens POPFEST is August 8-12. Some pretty amazing musicians will be participating, including Daniel Johnston, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Elekibass, the Marbles, and many more. We're happy to be sharing the bill with Tullycraft and the Circulatory System on Aug. 8th.

We're still working out some of the kinks in this website, so bear with us. The exciting news of the day is...OPTIMIST'S CLUB VINYL HAS ARRIVED! We'll have a few copies for sale at our Athfest show/Vinyl Release Party on Thursday night at the Caledonia, but you out-of-towners will be able to order it through People in a Position to Know Records very soon! We're just waiting for the special insert Jason created to make its way to Olympia. Mike at PIAPTK did a great job painting and screening the covers by hand and the records themselves are a variety of colors of marbled vinyl. Tasty! As Mike D. at PIAPTK says, "There's a lot of love in this vinyl." There is also one extra song on this record that wasn't on the original O.C.
In other news, we want to thank everyone who voted for Casper & the Cookies for the Athens Music Awards. We are finalists in the Best Pop Album and Best Album Artwork categories. We'll be at the awards ceremony before our show on Thursday.

It's been a busy, busy spring and we're gearing up for a summer just as busy. Even though we're taking a couple months off the heavy touring (we've played over 100 shows in the last year!), we are working on recording our next full length album!! We're also focusing on lots of general Cookie maintenance, including A NEW WEBSITE!!
